Strikes in French port
(Le Havre and Marseille) - 4 May 2008

Dear all sisters and brothers

STRIKES IN FRENCH PORT ---- LE HAVRE AND MARSEILLE/FOS SUR MER

Please keep in mind that we will be facing big troubles in France because of permanent French port crane drivers’ strikes. In theses circumstances the worse place to discharge and ship out container will be Marseille /fos. The union a very strong there and they may go on strike from one day to another without pre notice and for a long period.

Which could mean that cargo, will be taken as hostages and won’t move for a long period. A lot of mother vessels calls have been cancelled and cargo to be feedered from Barcelona or Genoa to Marseille with a lot of delay.
The remaining “safe place” is le havre
I will keep you update about evolution

Kind regards
